The Manufacturing Engineer Intern/Co-op position located in Lowell, Massachusetts, will report directly to the Continuous Improvement Manager and the Systems Product Line Manufacturing Engineer II. This position will assist the manufacturing team in driving the continuous improvement culture within RMB manufacturing operations by building and updating critical work instruction documentation, supporting the daily management tiered meeting structure, participating and leading structured problem solving to support delivering RMB’s strategic objectives and drive improvements across operations with respect to safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).


  • Develop, redline, and update work instruction documentation for Systems manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and update standard work documentation for Systems manufacturing processes.
  • Identify areas of opportunity for improvement through data driven analysis and decision making.
  • Participate with and support the tier 1 and tier 2 daily management teams in Systems manufacturing.
  • Support Focused Improvement (A3, DMAIC, etc.) problem-solving methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Has an associate degree with a technical background AND/OR currently working towards or has obtained a bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering program (Industrial, Mechanical, Electromechanical, Biomedical).
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Flexible and accountable to support needs of operations.
  • Professional and positive communication skills and able to work well in group settings.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.

Nice to Have Qualifications

  • Strong familiarity of Microsoft Teams is a plus.
  • Previous co-op, internship and/or related project experience is a plus.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Close visual acuity to work on a computer and to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work.
  • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required to be worn in working areas.
